This video shows the loading of art pieces that were once on the walls of Kellen Gallery. It was recorded while The New School students and faculty were “occupying” the gallery to determine the appropriate relationship between OWS and The New School. They were trying to decide whether Kellen Gallery should re-open as a sanctioned OWS space, or return to its original function as a gallery.
While the participants’ backs were towards the windows, the gallery space straddled both sides of the debate. This exceptional moment raises the question of what should be in a gallery space and what should be out of it. Exhibiting this moment in a gallery space adds another layer to the question.
