Remember Remember

Haimy Assefa

My name is Haimy Assefa and I am in GPIA at the New School. I started documenting the Occupy Wall Street movement at the end of September before main stream media started paying attention. I believed the movement deserved to be covered by journalists, photographers etc in a manor that was well intended. To me, Occupy Wall Street is not necessarily the answer to our problems, but it represents something bigger, an awakening, a new consciousness, and it is only the beginning. Through my photos, I aim to give a voice to the people and movement using my artistic vision as a vehicle. I believe these images speak to the spectrum of people and issues represented at Zuccotti park for the last months. I am always inspired by them.
